Sophia Ceneda selected for Mayor’s Design Advocate Panel
I am very honoured and thrilled to have been selected to support the London Good Growth by Design programme as a Mayor’s Design Advocate (MDA) until 2028. As an ambassador for this momentous programme, my role will be to help deliver well-designed, thriving and inclusive London’s neighbourhoods and public spaces along with 52 other MDAs.
MDAs are a range of experts in architecture, urban design, landscape design, sustainability and regenerative design, and advocates of equality, diversity and inclusion from London and beyond. It was truly exciting and inspiring to meet and hear from some of them at the launch event earlier this week.
As an MDA, I will be sharing my knowledge gained throughout my professional experience as a researcher in human rights, training in environmental sustainable design at the Centre of Alternative Technology, and in practice as an architect and Sustainability Lead at Howells, a journey that has also allowed me in recent years to meet and learn from some amazing and passionate experts across several networks such as Architects Declare, ACAN and LETI.
Lastly, I am very grateful to Howells and its leadership for their support throughout this journey, and I am proud to be part of a practice that is delivering high-quality neighbourhoods. This experience will be leveraged in my new role to contribute to the continuous creation of a climate-resilient and enduring high-quality built environment for Londoners and the communities they are part of.
