Loman Street receives approval
We are thrilled to announce the London Borough of Southwark’s planning committee approval for Loman Street, our mixed-use PBSA and Affordable Housing project, for IQ Student Accommodation. The design comprises 600 student rooms and 71 affordable homes in a historic part of Southwark, formerly home to Blackfriars Crown Court.
The two buildings are set around a new pedestrian route that reconnects existing streets, providing a verdant shared space, with carefully designed landscaping and areas for ‘play on the way’. This central green link is echoed within the two buildings, each having its own courtyard gardens.
The residential building provides duplex homes that bring activity to the street, with apartments above linked by internal deck-access, encouraging neighbourly interaction and helping to achieve 100% dual aspect homes.
The student building responds to the surrounding street character with its textured brickwork, massing rhythm and horizontal proportions. The more open ground floor provides engaging frontages that enhance the street scene, linking visually to the central courtyard and student amenities.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the project, we are looking forward to seeing it start on site in 2026.
