Studio Manager
We’re looking for a brilliant organiser, confident communicator and natural team leader to join us as Studio Manager, based in our Birmingham studio with overarching responsibility for both our Birmingham and London studios.
We are a collaborative team of architects, designers and makers creating award-winning projects across the UK and beyond. Our culture is hands-on, inclusive and ambitious—and the Studio Manager plays a key role in keeping it that way.
About the role
You’ll be at the heart of studio life, making sure everything runs smoothly—from the everyday essentials to the strategic systems that help our teams do their best work. You’ll support our senior team and specialist studios, manage our admin team, and keep us on top of compliance and operational standards. Just as importantly, you’ll help nurture the vibrant, welcoming culture that makes Howells a great place to work.
What we’re looking for
– Highly organised, proactive and approachable
– Strong leadership and people management skills
– Calm under pressure and able to juggle competing priorities
– Confident with systems, processes and compliance
– A team-first mindset and genuine enthusiasm for supporting others
– 3+ years’ experience in an operations or senior office admin role
– Someone who is excited to contribute to a growing, design-led practice
A formal degree isn’t required, but qualifications in the following fields may be beneficial:
– Management, Human Resources, Business Studies, or Information Technology
