Eden Dock, Canary Wharf
Walworth Road, Elephant and Castle
NLA Awards double
We’re proud to have won two awards at last week’s NLA Awards ceremony, with Eden Dock winning the Public Spaces category, and 182-202 Walworth Road winning the Housing (unbuilt) category.
Eden Dock, already recognised in several national and international awards, was designed in collaboration with HTA Design for Canary Wharf Group. Judges cited that the project was chosen for its “exceptional quality and craftsmanship, with careful attention to materials and finish. It has created a vibrant and welcoming public space that contributes to the revitalisation of the local economy.”
182-202 Walworth Road in Elephant and Castle is a new student and affordable housing development which will breathe new life into a derelict 1980s building, for client Fabrix.
Eden Dock was also Highly Commended in the Mayor’s Prize, with Jules Pipe, Deputy Mayor of London for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, saying of the public realm scheme: “The development is a nature-led placemaking scheme which shows how we can be more ambitious in shaping public spaces. By weaving together London’s Docklands heritage with a vibrant, high-density environment, the project puts biodiversity, inclusion, and education at its core.”
Congratulations to all the Howells team members, as well as the wider project teams involved in these schemes.
