The Mercian shortlisted in AJ Awards 2023

The Mercian has been shortlisted in the Architects’ Journal AJ Awards 2023.

Shortlisted in the Housing Project (£20m and over) category, The Mercian is a 42-storey elegant tower providing 481 homes for rent in Birmingham’s tallest building. The Mercian sets out to define an architecture that epitomises a new era for the city, with a slender, subtly burnished tower rising from a precast-clad plinth engaging Broad Street. The facade’s defining rhythm of bronze fins used as a prefabricated unitised system to maximise build quality and speed with minimal waste.

Cities are built on people and talent, and this residential project for Moda Living in the Broad Street district of central Birmingham attracts people to the very heart of the city.
