Institute of Translational Medicine

The Institute of Translational Medicine brings together academics and practitioners from the city’s teaching hospitals and the University of Birmingham. The Institute translates research directly into world-class treatments for patients suffering from a range of major health issues, including cancer and liver disease.

Our design has transformed Lanchester & Lodge’s pioneering 1930s Queen Elizabeth Hospital building, creating clinical facilities that form the core of the city council’s Life Sciences Campus and provide a link for firms to engage with clinicians and academics. The project created a strong identity for the ITM, providing serviced sites and accommodation for life and health sciences-related businesses as well as, crucially, a café and break-out spaces, fostering interaction and supporting high-quality clinical design trials.
