David Henderson
David has a wide range of interests focused around the design of sustainable buildings, communities and placemaking and the crafting of architectural spaces. Based in our London studio, he has experience in the design and delivery of numerous architectural, public realm and built environment projects and has participated in the creation of several strategic masterplan studies.
At Howells, David is responsible for the internal design review process, providing thought leadership and ensuring that best practice knowledge is shared. These fundamental design reviews provide respectful critique and support strong ideas, while moving projects in a positive design direction.
David joined Howells in 2012 and was made a Partner in 2021. He was educated in Scotland with part of his professional training undertaken in Chicago.
David lectures and has been a visiting critic at Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, Aberdeen, the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago and the Bartlett School of Architecture. In 2022, he sat on the course validation panel for the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture.
Outside of Howells, he is an active member of London’s design community, giving tours on architecture as part of Open House and is a member of The London Society, 20th Century Society and DOCOMOMO.
